Used Car Inspection Checklist for Brisbane Buyers

A clean exterior and short test drive do not reveal the full condition of a used vehicle. Before purchase, confirm the registration and VIN, review service history and arrange an independent mechanical inspection.

Mechanical and safety condition

Important areas include fluid leaks, cooling-system condition, engine operation, transmission behaviour, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, glass and seatbelts.

Electronic systems

A diagnostic scan can identify current or stored faults, although recently cleared codes and intermittent issues may not be visible. Dashboard warning lights should illuminate during the self-test and then switch off normally.

Budget beyond the purchase price

Tyres, brakes, timing belts, major scheduled services and fluid maintenance can significantly affect the real cost of a vehicle. Use inspection findings to plan expenses and inform your decision.
